This beautiful Hand-made Decanter was manufactured on the Island of Malta, in the City of Mdina the 'Silent City' in the Mediterranean. All glass manufactured at the glass studio in Malta is signed 'Mdina'.
This decanter is of red and orange glass with blue trellis work. It has no chips, cracks or marks and is in excellent condition and bears the signature of 'Mdina' etched on the base.
The Glass Studio was founded in 1967 by Michael Harris and Eric Dobson who moved to Malta to fulfil their dream of establishing a glass making company, and in doing so, formed the first producer of handmade glass on the Island. They trained local people in the skills of working with hot glass. Michael left Malta in 1972 to set up a glass studio on the Isle of Wight, UK but Eric remained until 1985. The company still continues today and draws many visitors from around the World.
